15 injured in leopard attack in Assam’s Jorhat

At least 15 people, including forest officials, children and women, were injured in separate attacks by a leopard on the prowl in Assam’s Jorhat since Monday morning.

Most of the injured are from the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI) campus, located on the outskirts of Jorhat town.

Forest department officials said the animal is likely to have intruded into the campus in search of food from the neighbouring Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary. The leopard was yet to be tranquilised.

In a video captured by forest officials, the leopard was seen attacking a four-wheeler carrying forest staff and then a van with civilians.

In another video grab shared with the media, it was seen taking shelter near the staircase of a residential quarter.
