272 Bangladesh refugees Chin-Kuki people enter Mizoram
At least 272 Chin-Kuki people fled to Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district from the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh fleeing an armed conflict between Bangladesh Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and an ethnic separatist group Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA), on Sunday to take refuge in the state, an official said on Monday.
The Chin-Kuki people and the Mizos belong to the Zo community and they share the same culture and ancestry. A senior official in Lawngtlai told this newspaper the refugees had entered the district on Sunday evening.
