40 injured in NIT Silchar riots following the death of a student

Protesters gathered on the institute’s campus to demand justice for a third-year electrical engineering student who committed suicide.

The student allegedly committed suicide after being humiliated by Dean of Academics BK Roy.

The ensuing lathi charge injured at least 40 students.
