Jhankar Saikia’s case: Found guilt, soon to apply in High Court
NN Bureau, February 26: In Jhankar Saikia’s case, Sarsing Teron and other twelve persons were convicted at the time of murder. On Monday, the Honorable Judicial Court declared the judgment where the convicted are found guilty under Sections 147(Rioting), 341 (Wrongful restraint), 323(Voluntarily causing hurt) and 302 (Murder) read with Section 149 of the IPC. The family members and relatives of the convicted are unhappy with the judgment.
In reference to the judgment, various tribal student unions organized a press meet at Dispur where they talked about their unhappiness with the judgment. According to them, the government and the media gives undue and excessive importance to only cases against tribal which gives pressure on courts to punish tribal offenders to all cost and the reason of injustice in this case. So, they informed that very soon they will appeal in the High Court.
