Meghalaya Govt will scrap gambling law: James K Sangma
Following bitter opposition from different quarters, Meghalaya government on Thursday repealed the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act, 2021 which allowed setting up of casinos in the state.
Law Minister James K Sangma on Thursday said Meghalaya Government on Thursday repealed the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act, 2021 which was introduced last year with an aim of boosting tourism, revenue generation, and employment for the people in the state said.
Following meetings with stakeholders, it became clear to me it is in the best interest of our State to completely scrap the Act. Therefore, it will be my earnest endeavour to see that the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act, 2021, will be repealed. pic.twitter.com/vTC1aKmBri
