Oil India Limited (OIL) keen to start hydrocarbon exploration in Nagaland

Oil India Limited (OIL) is keen to start hydrocarbon exploration in Nagaland in the wake of Assam and Nagaland agreeing in principle to facilitate the resumption of exploration and production of oil and gas in disputed border areas which have been suspended for nearly three decades now.

The chairman and managing director of OIL, Ranjit Rath said, “We will immediately start exploration once the issues are sorted out. We strongly believe that both the Assam shelf where we have the main producing area, and the Assam-Arakan fold belt, which is in the south east of Assam shelf covering Nagaland, have enough potential. We have 3000 sq km of exploration acreage in Nagaland.” Rath said.
