Seven charges against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma & His Wife: Assam Congress
The Congress on Monday levelled multiple corruption charges against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife, and wrote to the CBI demanding a probe into the allegations.
The Assam Pradesh Congress demands that the government must conduct an inquiry into the land scam by the CBI and raised an issue about a private company — RBS Realtors.
The Congress said during the recent inauguration of an international school on the outskirts of Guwahati which the CM’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma owns, she had publicly announced he is its founder. “But being the head of the state of Assam, how can a CM run an international school?” the Congress asked.
Also demanded a probe into the purchase of huge quantity of PPE kits by the government of Assam during the COVID-19 pandemic period, allegedly violating all the prescribed norms and guidelines.
The Congress alleged another serious issue was the “cheating” of Assamese weavers and the silk and Muga industry in Assam.
