The Guwahati Police apprehend two human traffickers.

The Guwahati Police arrested two human traffickers from a lodge at Basistha last night. The two are Anwar Hussain of Byrnihat and Rajesh Bhai Patel from Haryana.

According to the police, they caught the two traffickers last night while planning to take a girl to a location outside Assam.

According to the police, Anwar had taken a girl (his Facebook friend) to Mumbai from Assam in 2020 with the promise of providing her with a job and wedding her. He, however, sold the girl to a brothel. Mumbai Police and an NGO from Assam rescued the girl, brought her back to Guwahati and rehabilitated her in the state. A case (383/2022 u/s 370/378 IPC R/W Section 4 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act) in that connection is still undergoing at Paltan Bazar Police Station in Guwahati.

In the meantime, Anwar contacted the girl, and the girl kept the police informed of the matter. The police then laid a trap and asked the girl to keep in touch with Anwar. And the plan yielded results.
