Assam to Introduce Mother Tongue Education in Six Tribal Languages

The Assam Education Department will begin teaching in six tribal languages—Karbi, Mising, Rabha, Dimasa, Deuri, and Santhali—at the foundational level starting next academic session. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu held a meeting with representatives of these tribal groups and SCERT officials to discuss the implementation of this plan.
