Assam Evicts 114 Families from VGR Land in Lakhimpur

The Assam government evicted 114 families from Phukondoli village in Lakhimpur, clearing 78.21 acres of Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) land. Most families had vacated before the drive. Authorities said the land was reserved, while villagers claimed long-term settlement. This marks the eighth eviction since June, mainly affecting Bengali-speaking Muslims.
