Women’s Forum Leads Protest in Haflong Over Rape-Murder Case
Hundreds of women under the United Women Forum of Karbi Anglong staged a protest in Haflong demanding justice for a 48-year-old woman raped and murdered in Langku village, Dima Hasao. Dressed in black, protesters, joined by student bodies and civil groups, sought strict punishment for the accused and reforms for women’s safety. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister and NCHAC. Five suspects have been arrested, with one in judicial custody and four in police custody.
