Second Wave of Assam Floods Affects 50,000 Across Five Districts

Nearly 50,000 people have been hit by fresh floods in Assam, affecting Golaghat, Sonitpur, Cachar, Nagaon, and Bishwanath. Golaghat is the worst-hit with over 32,000 affected. Several rivers are flowing above danger levels. Authorities set up 29 relief camps sheltering over 8,000 people. Floods have submerged 4,632 hectares of cropland and impacted nearly 15,000 animals. Continuous rain and water release from Nagaland’s Doyang project worsened Golaghat’s situation.
