Guwahati Speeds Up ₹177-Crore Smart Surveillance Project

Guwahati Smart City Limited is fast-tracking the ₹177-crore Intelligent City Surveillance System to improve safety, traffic management, and crowd control. The project replaces the incomplete ITMS and will be jointly run with Assam Police.

Around 2,000 CCTV cameras are being installed across the city, with nearly 1,000 already in place. The system includes public announcement units, emergency call boxes, message displays, environmental sensors, an Integrated Command and Control Centre, and viewing centres.

AI-based monitoring will cover crime-prone areas, accident zones, busy corridors, and even the airport road, enabling quicker policing and better emergency response.
