Public Anger Rises Over Delays in Bilasipara Minor Rape Investigation

Bilasipara, Dhubri: Public outrage is mounting in Bilasipara over the local police’s apparent negligence and slow response in investigating the alleged gang-rape of a minor girl. The incident, which occurred on the evening of November 27, saw the Class VIII victim reportedly lured to a paddy field by Moinal Haque and subsequently assaulted by him and three other men.

The girl’s family found her tied up and distressed in the field shortly after. An FIR was filed immediately, registering a case under stringent laws, including Section 376(3) of the BNS and the POCSO Act, 2012. However, five days later, no arrests have been made, sparking widespread condemnation. Local organizations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, have severely criticized the police and issued a 24-hour ultimatum, threatening to launch street protests if the culprits are not apprehended immediately.
