Egg Prices Surge Over 50% in Assam Amid Supply Crunch

Egg prices in Assam have risen by over 50 per cent in the last few months due to supply shortages, higher transport costs and increased festive demand. The impact is sharper in the state because of its heavy dependence on eggs from other states.

In Guwahati, eggs are selling at ₹8–₹10 per piece, with a plate priced at ₹240–₹250. Consumers have urged the government to monitor prices as rising costs of essential items continue to strain household budgets.
