PMUY 3.0 to Target Low LPG Coverage Areas in Assam

Assam’s rural and tribal areas with low LPG usage will be prioritised under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 3.0, IndianOil officials said on Friday. Of the 25 lakh new free LPG connections approved nationwide, five lakh are allocated to the Northeast, including 2.5 lakh for Assam.
While LPG coverage has crossed 100 percent in many parts of the state, penetration remains low in districts such as Sivasagar, Baksa and Dhemaji. PMUY 3.0 will focus on awareness campaigns to discourage the use of traditional cooking fuels. The Assam government will support the initiative through publicity drives and special outreach camps.
