Assam Govt Hands Over Alleged Pakistan-Link Case Against Gaurav Gogoi to Centre

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the alleged Pakistan links involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi have been transferred to the Central government for further investigation. He said the state has forwarded the case along with supporting evidence, citing national security concerns.

Sarma said a state-constituted SIT found elements beyond Assam Police jurisdiction, prompting referral to the Centre and the Ministry of Home Affairs. He reiterated allegations regarding Gogoi’s visits to Pakistan and his wife’s professional associations, which Gogoi has denied.

Rejecting the claims, Gogoi accused the Chief Minister of raising the issue for political reasons ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and said the allegations were baseless.
