NDA Finalises Seat Sharing in Assam; BJP to Announce Candidates Soon

The NDA has largely finalised its seat-sharing plan in Assam, with AGP likely to contest around 26 seats and BPF about 11, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The alliance framework and initial candidate discussions are complete, and the BJP is expected to release its candidate list by March 19 after a Central Parliamentary Board meeting.

Sarma indicated that the BJP will field a mix of new faces, women, youth, and candidates from diverse communities. Except for seats given to allies, the BJP will announce all candidates in one list.

He also signalled openness to Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi joining the BJP, stating the party would accommodate him if he switches sides. Meanwhile, internal tensions within Congress over ticket allocation continue, setting the stage for a competitive Assembly election.
