Five Held in Alleged Blood Broker Racket at GMCH

Guwahati, July 28: Five persons were apprehended by security personnel at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for allegedly operating an illegal blood brokerage racket on the hospital premises. The accused were later handed over to Bhangagarh Police for investigation.
According to hospital authorities, the suspects allegedly approached patients’ attendants and offered to arrange blood in exchange for money despite the availability of authorised blood bank services. Police are investigating the case to determine whether a larger network is involved, while GMCH is expected to tighten campus surveillance.
