Trump Waives Russia-Related Tariffs, Offering Relief to India and China

Washington: US President Donald Trump has temporarily waived several sanctions and tariffs linked to Russian exports, citing the national interest of the United States. The decision suspends plans to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries, including India and China, that purchase Russian crude oil.
The legislation aimed to restrict Russia’s revenue amid its war with Ukraine by penalising countries trading with Moscow. The latest order delays the tariff measures but does not permanently cancel them. India has maintained that safeguarding its energy security and economic interests remains a priority while continuing to diversify its oil supplies.
