Assam Worker Beaten to Death by Mob in Tamil Nadu, Family Seeks Justice

A 35-year-old worker from Dudhnoi in Assam’s Goalpara district, Prasenjit Das, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvallur district on Friday evening.

According to police, Das had recently arrived in Chennai in search of work. He was reportedly assaulted by locals following an altercation involving a local woman. He later succumbed to his injuries.

His family said he made a distress call before the attack, pleading for help and claiming that people were coming to kill him. They have appealed to authorities to bring his body back to Assam and ensure punishment for those responsible.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. The tragedy has once again raised concerns over the safety of migrant workers from Assam employed outside the state.
