GMCH Patient Allegedly Loses ₹20,000 in Cyber Fraud

Guwahati: A patient undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was allegedly cheated of around ₹20,000 by cybercriminals who reportedly used the name of an NGO to gain his trust. The patient, Ananta Bora, was receiving treatment at GMCH’s CN Centre and had received financial help from well-wishers for his medical expenses.

According to his family, the fraudsters sent a fake message claiming that money had been credited to Bora’s bank account before allegedly persuading him to transfer funds. The accused reportedly invoked the name of “Adda-Manuhe Manuhor Babe” during the alleged fraud. The family has lodged a complaint at Bhangagarh Police Station, submitting details of the transactions and communications.
