Man-Elephant Conflict in Kamrup: Villagers Struggle to Protect Crops

In Kamrup East Forest Division, hundreds of villagers in over 15 villages are losing sleep as a herd of 50 wild elephants destroys their crops. Over 1,200 farmers in villages like Joypur and Bikrampur face daily raids from elephants descending from Kawasing and Jarasal Reserve Forests. Traditional methods to chase the elephants are no longer effective, causing significant crop losses and forcing some villagers to abandon paddy farming altogether.
