₹378 Crore Sanctioned to Combat Brahmaputra Erosion in Dibrugarh
The government has allocated ₹378 crore to address soil erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River in Dibrugarh, announced Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika.
During an inspection of erosion-hit areas, Hazarika highlighted ongoing permanent restoration efforts this winter, unlike temporary monsoon measures. He also inspected a 13-km-long water conservation pond under construction at Greenwood Tea Estate and assured ₹45 crore funding for Maijan’s severely eroded stretch.
Hazarika reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting Dibrugarh from floods and erosion, ensuring the town’s safety and resilience.
