₹10,000 Crore Urea Plant in Assam’s Namrup to Boost Jobs and Production
The central government will set up a ₹10,000 crore urea plant in Namrup, Assam, as announced in the Union Budget 2025-26. The plant, with a capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tonnes per year, will create 1,950 jobs and be completed in 3.5 years. Located within Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd (BVFCL), it will help meet Northeast and Eastern India’s fertiliser demand while reducing imports. The facility will use natural gas and manufacture advanced fertilisers, enhancing agricultural sustainability.
