10 Bangladeshi Nationals, Including Five Children, Detained in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: Police detained 10 Bangladeshi nationals, including five children and a woman, in the Panchgram area of Assam’s Hailakandi district. According to police sources, the group had reportedly been living and working at an industrial unit in Jammu and Kashmir for around 10 years before planning to return to Bangladesh.

Preliminary investigations suggest that they were travelling towards Meghalaya to reach an India-Bangladesh border crossing. An auto-rickshaw driver alerted local residents after noticing their movements, following which the group was handed over to the police. According to police sources, the process of sending them back to Bangladesh, described as a “pushback”, has been initiated.
