110 Black Softshell Turtle Hatchlings Released in Kaziranga

In a conservation initiative, 110 black softshell turtle hatchlings were released into the Sildubi Wetland under Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Thursday, taking the total releases to 220. The programme is part of a joint effort by the Assam Forest Department and the India Turtle Conservation Program to revive the threatened species.
Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika attended the event and stressed the ecological importance of freshwater turtles. The hatchlings were reared from rescued eggs under protected conditions before being released into the wild.
