54 Families Evicted from Encroached VGR Land in Bongaigaon

The Bongaigaon district administration on Monday evicted 54 families from Pachania after clearing 45 bighas of Village Grazing Reserve land allegedly encroached since 1998. While many families left after notices were issued, 54 remained despite repeated instructions.

Following site visits and warnings by district officials, the eviction was conducted with police presence. The evicted families claimed they had settled there due to river erosion.
