721 Karbi youth set Guinness Book of World Records by stilt walking

In a remarkable feat, 721 Karbi youth have become the longest queue of people to walk on bamboo stilts by participating in the ancient sport of Kengdongdang, earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Karbi community’s traditional sport, kengdongdang, consists of races on bamboo stilts. These bamboo constructions are used by stilt walkers to navigate the competition.

The stilt-walkers got together to set a world record at the Karbi Anglong headquarters in central Assam, at the Bokolia Bypass near Diphu. By forming a single line that spanned 2 km and walking for 10 minutes, they were able to set the record.
