8-Year-Old Girl Raped and Killed in Assam Tea Garden

An 8-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a man while collecting firewood at a tea garden in Dibrugarh’s Kachari Pathar on Saturday. The accused, who was fishing nearby, smothered her, hid the body in a drain, and was caught by locals while fleeing. He has a prior conviction for killing his mother and served 14 years in jail. Police have him in custody, with charges under POCSO Act and BNS.
