Opposition MLAs Briefly Suspended in Assam Assembly Amidst Heated Education Anomalies Debate

Two opposition MLAs in the Assam Assembly, including Congress Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed and AIUDF MLA Ashraful Ahmed, were briefly suspended for not adhering to the Speaker’s ruling during a discussion on anomalies in the Education Department. Sherman Ali Ahmed raised concerns about irregularities in the ‘Gunotsav’ school evaluation system, alleging that a chowkidar impersonated a school teacher. Despite Education Minister Ranoj Pegu’s response, Ahmed continued to criticize the department, leading to his suspension by Speaker Biswajit Daimary. AIUDF MLA Ashraful Ahmed, protesting the suspension, was also suspended. The suspended MLAs were escorted out but were later allowed to rejoin the session after the conclusion of the discussion.
