Assam Introduces Indigenous Languages in Foundational Education

The Assam government has taken a significant step by introducing six indigenous languages as mediums of instruction in the foundational stage of education. Mising, Rabha, Karbi, Tiwa, Dimasa, and Deuri have been officially recognized for this purpose, as announced by the Department of School Education. Following the foundational stage, instruction will transition to regional languages. Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed gratitude to the government for this initiative, emphasizing its role in empowering respective communities and enabling education in their mother tongues.
