Man Drowns in Assam’s Mangaldoi River Amid Incessant Rainfall

Amidst heavy rainfall and flooding in Assam, a 45-year-old man, Lalchand Chouhan, drowned while bathing in the Mangaldoi River on Wednesday. Lalchand, a resident of Prafulla Nagar, Gerimari, and his neighbor, Japsia Choudhary, had placed a Rs. 600 bet on crossing the river. Japsia turned back midway, but Lalchand drowned before reaching the other bank. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered his body after an hour.
