IMA Calls Nationwide Strike Over Trainee Doctor’s Murder
In response to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) announced a 24-hour nationwide strike from August 17-18, suspending non-emergency services. Routine OPDs and elective surgeries will be halted, while essential services remain operational. Gauhati Medical College (GMCH) joined the strike, with junior doctors refraining from non-emergency duties. Protesting doctors demand justice, a CBI investigation, accountability from the RG Kar administration, and the swift implementation of the Central Healthcare Protection Act.
