MoRTH Approves Four-Laning Plan for NH-129 Between Numaligarh and Lahorijan

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has given in-principle approval for widening National Highway 129 from two lanes to four lanes between Numaligarh in Assam’s Golaghat district and Lahorijan near the Assam-Nagaland border. The proposed project will cover approximately 107 km, strengthening road connectivity between Assam and Nagaland.
The Assam Public Works Department has invited proposals to appoint a consultant to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), which must be completed within 12 months. The highway passes through scenic areas, including the vicinity of Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary, and the proposed expansion is expected to improve regional connectivity and transportation.
