Assam to Establish Five New Medical Colleges to Strengthen Healthcare

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the establishment of five new medical colleges in Assam at Goalpara, Hailakandi, Majuli, Hojai, and Haflong, aimed at boosting healthcare and medical education. The plan involves upgrading district hospitals and integrating Naturopathy, Ayurveda, and Yoga. Additional colleges in Guwahati, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Biswanath, and Tinsukia are also in development, increasing the state’s total to around 23 medical institutions within the next few years. These steps aim to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across Assam.
