Cachar Releases New Delimitation List for Panchayat Polls

Ahead of panchayat elections, Cachar district administration has revised the delimitation of Gaon Panchayats (GP), Anchalik Panchayats (AP), and Zilla Parishads (ZP).

Significant changes have occurred in four of the seven constituencies. Borkhola, Katigorah, Dholai, and Lakhipur saw an increase in GPs. Meanwhile, Silchar and Sonai had reductions, while Udharbond remained unchanged. The number of Zilla Parishad constituencies has reduced from 27 to 25.

Cachar Zilla Parishad CEO, PK Borah, stated that public claims and objections on the draft delimitations are open from September 18 to 20. The final draft will be submitted to the Panchayat and Rural Development Department on September 27.
