Insurgency Suspected in Abduction of Tea Factory Supervisor in Tinsukia

Tinsukia police are investigating the possible involvement of an insurgent group in the abduction of Gautam Basumatary, a supervisor at Himalaya Tea Company near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. CCTV footage showed masked, armed men kidnapping him. A search operation has been launched, and borders have been sealed to prevent the escape of the abductors. While police suspect insurgent activity, they have not confirmed the group’s identity. This incident is reminiscent of a 2018 kidnapping in the same area by ULFA-I.
