AASU Criticizes Assam Government Over Martyrs’ Day Observance

The Assam government marked Martyrs’ Day to honor Assam movement martyrs, but the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) criticized the event, accusing the government of neglecting the Assam Accord’s implementation.

AASU president Utpal Sarma stated that without fulfilling the Accord’s clauses, the sacrifices of the martyrs would be rendered meaningless. He emphasized the need to fight for the Accord’s implementation, accusing political parties like AGP and BJP of failing to act despite being in power.

Sarma urged for the Assam movement to be included in school and university curricula to educate future generations about its significance.
