Four Dead, Over 20 Ill from Contaminated Water in Silchar

Contaminated water from the Bhakatpur Water Project in Silchar has claimed four lives and sickened over 20.

The outbreak in Bhakatpur’s Sector 4 started last week, rapidly spreading across households. Victims include two men who died on December 22 and two elderly residents days later.

Over 24 patients are being treated at Silchar Medical College and Civil Hospital. Authorities have collected water samples for testing, and a medical camp has been set up to monitor the situation. Investigations into the contamination are ongoing.
