Numaligarh Refinery Drivers Protest Wage Disparity

Over 200 motor drivers at Numaligarh Refinery staged a protest on Sunday, demanding equal pay for equal work. Led by the Assam Motor Drivers’ Association, they highlighted the wage gap—₹400 for 12-hour shifts versus ₹775 for 8-hour shifts for directly employed drivers. Union leaders urged refinery management to address the issue. The protesters warned of an indefinite strike from February 19 if their demands were not met.
