Assam Panchayat Polls Likely in April, Says Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah

Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah indicated that panchayat elections might be held in April after school exams. Speaking at a BJP gathering in Barpeta, he also confirmed that the party has begun preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections, aiming for 100 seats. He expressed BJP’s confidence in winning Barpeta and Bhabanipur-Sorbhog constituencies. Regarding the controversy around Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi, Baruah urged him to clarify his stance on the allegations against him.
