Meghalaya CM Pushes for Resumption of Assam Border Talks
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced plans to urge Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to restart the second phase of border talks after the Assembly’s budget session. The discussions aim to resolve six remaining disputed areas along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
Sangma attributed the delay to frequent elections and major events in Guwahati, expressing hope for progress soon. Last year, Meghalaya had expressed disappointment over Assam’s slow pace in addressing the issue, with concerns raised by Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh and local officials.
