Assam Passes Law to Regulate Coaching Institutes

The Assam Assembly has passed the Assam Coaching Institutes (Control and Regulation) Act, 2025 to oversee private coaching centers. The law mandates registration within 30 days, prohibits government teachers from teaching in coaching centers, and ensures fair tuition fees.
Institutes must maintain a minimum space per student, have a rental agreement for at least three years, and hire only graduate tutors. False promises, enrolling students below 16, and conducting classes during school hours are banned. Violations will result in fines up to ₹1 lakh, with repeated offences leading to registration cancellation.
