UNESCO Chair Urges Assam to Make Health Education Mandatory in Schools
Dr. Rahul Mehra, UNESCO Chair Representative and Executive Director of Tarang Health Alliance, urged Assam to introduce compulsory health education in schools. Speaking at a webinar, he highlighted the state’s high anaemia rates and stressed early education on topics like nutrition, hygiene, and mental health. He praised Assam’s Saptadhara scheme and appealed to SCERT and policymakers to include health as a core subject in the curriculum.
