Malaria Cases Surge in Chirang Amid Staff Shortage
Chirang district has reported 291 malaria cases in three months, alarming health officials. Most cases are Plasmodium vivax, with 42 of the more severe Plasmodium falciparum. Shortages of medical staff, especially at Runikhata Dispensary, hamper response efforts. Despite distributing 28,000 bed nets and starting fogging, locals complain about lack of treatment. Authorities plan indoor spraying and awareness drives to control the outbreak.
