Assam to Inaugurate 80 More Tea Garden Model Schools in January 2026

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced 80 new Tea Garden Model Schools will open in January 2026 to boost education in tea garden areas. The state targets 200 such schools, with 118 already functioning. Plans include mid-day meals for Class IX–X, smart classrooms, improved infrastructure, and teacher benefits. Bicycles will be provided to students from Class VI onwards, and boundary walls will be built for schools lacking them. B.Ed apprenticeships and skill training for students will also be introduced.
