Assam Declares Five Districts Drought-Hit, 27 Face Rainfall Deficit

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Dhubri, Baksa, and Bongaigaon as drought-hit due to 40% rainfall deficit. A total of 27 districts face deficient rainfall. Crop-insured farmers will get compensation. The government has begun steps to tackle the situation. Agriculture Minister Atul Bora also sought Central support in Delhi.
