SC Seeks Assam Govt’s Reply on Goalpara Eviction Drive

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Assam government over the Hasila Beel eviction in Goalpara. The plea, filed by Assam State Jamiat Ulama, claimed that over 667 families—mainly from a minority community—were evicted without due process. The petition cited lack of notice, personal hearing, and discriminatory action.
