No Special Order to Drop Cases of Non-Muslim Foreigners: Assam CM

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma denied issuing any special directive to drop cases against non-Muslim illegal foreigners, saying the Citizenship (Amendment) Act already protects eligible communities. He noted past cabinet decisions only for Koch-Rajbongshi and Gorkhas. However, a July 22 government order asked districts to review pre-2015 cases and guide such individuals to apply for citizenship under the CAA.
